With heavy hearts, we say goodbye to our activity assistant, Ms. Miriam this week. She's been a fixture of our facility for over 31 years, and we'll truly miss her caring attitude, willingness to help both residents and coworkers, and constant smile. Ms. Miriam often told us how happy she felt creating and doing special things for our residents, and she'll miss talking to resident families as well. Talking to residents' families made her feel more connected to the residents themselves and more capable to understand their unique needs. She has seen our building grow over the years and hopes that it keeps growing (so do we). We'll miss her playing music and dancing with our residents almost as much as she will. She continually reminded all of us that residents should be treated with dignity and respect, and demonstrated that principle time and time again. We will truly miss you, Miriam. We wish you nothing but the best in your future!

To anyone having issues calling the facility, please dial 301 518 9376 for the front desk and 240 772 7409 for emergencies. We'll keep you updated as we resolve the issue.

October is a great month here at Althea Woodland! We have some really exciting events lined up this year. Starting on Friday the 13th (spooky), we're having our Harvest Bake Sale, where staff bring in their delicious treats for the community and our residents. Following that, we're hosting our Harvest Pot Luck on the 31st, where residents can bring in their tasty trays for some special foods. We'll also have our annual Trick or Treat for the community this Halloween! Residents and staff will pass out candy to the community, and to top it all off, there's going to be a costume party with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes for the best costume, with our residents as the judges! Lastly, we'll have our resident Halloween party where residents will come together and party the night away. We're looking forward to a fun month here!

With a heavy heart, we say farewell to our Activity Director, Vonda Young. Vonda has been with us for two years and will truly miss our residents here (and us)! She's done great things for Althea Woodland, always putting patients and residents first, and her ability to plan and host great events for our residents made her loved by both residents and families alike. She also assisted the president and vice president of resident council, and generally went above and beyond for staff, residents, and families. Vonda we wish you the best at your new home! Thank you for your service!
