1863 saw the birth of our founding father, Maxwell Lessing and 1890, the birth of Lessing’s Inc. Originally a silk merchant, Maxwell built the Lessing's brand with the vision of providing services to coffee shops across downtown Manhattan. It was here that he pioneered a new division of the hospitality world - lunch service. The Woolworth Building on Wall Street was home to our lunch counter. The NYSE was home to another. It was at these nostalgic institutions where Maxwell Lessing made history by serving the first Coca Cola and sandwich in the city. Finally, on August 15, 1917, Lessing's officially became recognized as a corporation. Through 125-years of commitment and service, Lessing's has grown exponentially while always upholding the important values and attitude Maxwell first established.
