Betty's Transitional Program

Since 1967 we have been a resource and a place of support for individuals on the streets, serving over 1,000 individuals a year. Founded to provide a safe haven for runaway and drug addicted teens, today we create jobs, supply housing, offer skill training and provide long-term wraparound support services to help adults overcome their homeless circumstances and to live independently with dignity.

Over the decades, Project Place has provided innovative programming for those challenged by addiction, mental illness, domestic violence, a criminal past and poverty. Nicknamed "Place" in the 60's and 70's when our doors were open to a younger and disenfranchised population, we have evolved to become comprehensive and entrepreneurial in our approach. Recently, we moved to our new "green" home at 1145 Washington Street in Boston's South End in order to expand the capacity of our programming and social enterprises and to provide affordable, permanent housing for those in need.

It takes courage to ask for help, determination to start again and belief from others that change is possible. At Project Place, we are fortunate to bear witness to the transformation of our clients' lives on a daily basis, but success takes resources and the support of a broader community. We invite you to explore our website and learn more about how you can get involved in helping those in need. Please consider making a donation, volunteering your time, collaborating with us, and/or purchasing services through our small businesses.

Thank you for your interest in Project Place.
