In 1966 a group of approximately 100 parents organized a private elementary school in Suffolk, Virginia, serving grades one through seven. For over fifty years, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy has been a leading independent school in the Hampton Roads region. Its educational program is framed to provide an academically rigorous college preparatory program in a setting where honor, respect, compassion and personal responsibility are fostered. The school rests on the largest independent school campus in the region that includes ample fields and wetlands for play and personal discovery.
The Virginia Association of Independent Schools and Southern Association of Schools and Colleges accredit the school. It is also a member of the National Association of Independent Schools.
