Burke Rehabilitation Hospital

Burke Rehabilitation Hospital is a 150-bed acute hospital dedicated entirely to rehabilitation medicine. Opened in 1915, Burke has been a leader in medical rehabilitation for over 100 years.

Burke's inpatient hospital is located on our beautiful 61-acre campus in White Plains, NY and treats patients who have experienced a stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation, complicated fracture, cardiac and pulmonary disease, neurological disorders as well as general debility. Burke’s doctors, nurses and therapists provide state-of-the-art treatment, and our personalized care is the result of expert, interdisciplinary teams, led by a remarkable range of highly respected medical specialists. Our inpatient programs provide a minimum of 15 hours of physical, occupational and speech therapy per week.

Burke also operates several outpatient rehabilitation clinics throughout Westchester County and the Bronx. These conveniently located clinics offer physical, occupational, speech and other specialty therapies, providing the same excellent care Burke is known for close to home.

In 2017, Burke launched an outpatient physician practice on its main campus. Patients who have completed inpatient rehabilitation or members of the community seeking outpatient medical services can be evaluated by Burke’s board-certified physicians specializing in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Treatment is available for patients who experience complications related to injury, illness or chronic conditions.

Burke is dedicated to training the next generation of rehabilitation professionals. The hospital is home to a nationally-recognized ACGME-accredited Physical Medical and Rehabilitation residency program.

Burke also conducts cutting-edge clinical research. Patients admitted to Burke Rehabilitation Hospital may have the opportunity to participate in medical research for ongoing studies.

Burke also offers ongoing programming to members of the community, including educational events and health screenings. Every year, Burke hosts the Wheelchair Games, Heels & Wheels 5K Road Race & Walk as well as other adaptive sports clinics. These events are unique in allowing athletes of all ability levels to participate in sports and competitions in a supportive and inclusive environment.

The Burke Adult Fitness Center, located on the main campus in White Plains, is designed for adults 40 and older (or those with a qualifying disability) to provide a comfortable, supportive and safe environment for exercise. Based on each individual member's health history and goals, a specific exercise program will be designed for them by a certified personal trainer.

Burke has been providing rehabilitative care for individuals who have experienced a life-changing illness, injury or surgery for over a century, and now provides a continuum of care long after an inpatient has been discharged.
