Detlefsen Nel & Associates is headquartered in Eugene, Oregon in the picturesque North West. The firm was founded by Melba Detlefsen and Riaan Nel in January 2003 with the aim of providing comprehensive investment and retirement consulting outside of the constraints and conflicts of interests of a large brokerage house. Melba and Riaan were part of The Detlefsen-Barber-Nel Team at Morgan Stanley in Eugene.
Currently the firm is serving clients in the following areas: Eugene/Springfield, Portland, Seattle, San Francisco Bay Area, Salt Lake City, Mississippi and abroad.
Detlefsen Nel & Associates' investment philosophy is asset protection while seeking growth as symbolized by our Sand Dollar logo. Although we provide comprehensive financial and investment planning consulting, the majority of our clients are investing for retirement - either preparing for retirement, or taking income during retirement. The firm has designed and utilizes innovative strategies to help protect our clients' retirement investments, while at the same time trying to grow and produce the income they require. Trying to protect a retirement nest egg is just as important as trying to grow a nest egg. Often these two aims are contradictory, and that is where our Sand Dollar Retirement ProcessSM comes into play.
The firm is organized on an association model. We have associations with various other companies to provide our clients with truly holistic, comprehensive and global financial and investment advice. Our primary association is with LPL Financial out of San Diego, Boston and Charlotte. LPL Financial is a Registered Investment Advisor and one of the nation's leading broker-dealers for independent Financial Consulting practices.
