The objective of the Laura Street Baptist Church is to know the love of God in Christ Jesus and to grow in appreciation of His love, therefore the church will be a worshiping fellowship of maturing Christians that will witness and minister to all persons for Christ in this community and throughout the world.
Church Vision:
God placed the dream of our church in someone's heart fifty plus years ago. The dream was simply to share the love of Christ with folks in the community of Maryville and surrounding area. On the first Sunday in September 1949, approximately 50 people gathered in an old abandoned church building on the corner of Laura and Jenkins Streets to sing praises to God and hear His Word proclaimed.
Through the years many things about Laura Street Baptist Church have changed, but the commitment to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with folks in Nodaway county remains our supreme task. God has blessed our efforts. Over the years, many people have come to trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord through the ministry of our church. Several young men and women have been called from our midst to full-time Christian service. God is good!
Presently, the number of lives we touch through our Sunday School members and prospects totals over 1600. Our current Sunday School enrollment is 713. The potential for care and ministry is limitless. God's call to mission in Maryville is as real as ever. We must press on for His glory.
