SO SWEET - Record Breaking News! Thanks to your support and the many donors, our Dessert Auction garnered a grand total of $2,265 for our Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion Programs. The fundraising began with quilt raffle. The Foster Grandmas sold tickets in the weeks before the event occurred. Three grandmas in particular went above and beyond. Grandma Sharon, Grandma Sandy, and Grandma Ila raised over $500 between them. And all three came to the event early to help out during the entire auction. 36 desserts brought in a total of $1,362 during the auction. Raffle proceeds at the door & tips brought in the remainder of the funds. Iowa Western Community College's (IWCC) contribution of 4 items brought in the most with $230 for 4 items. Kim S. came next with her sugar eggs totaling $210, (they were auctioned off as 7 sets of 2 eggs). Max individual items were: Petit’s Lemon Torte and Kim Murphy’s German Chocolate cake each auctioned for $110. Two of IWCC’s items auctioned for $90 each. The average donation per dessert was $37.83. The Walgreens basket raffle item was won by a volunteer Grandma Sandy who was SO SO SO happy. She shared with me afterwards that she had hoped to win it because she was excited about the movie in it. The floral raffle was won by Grandma Sharon and the quilt was won by the SAM at Rue Elementary (Rue has three grandmas there). All in all, it was a fantastic event. Thank you to all who donated their time and energy to help out.
