We know Meals on Wheels makes a difference in our neighbor's lives! Studies have shown the sense of security increases with the meals - and we have living proof! One of our Meals on Wheels recipients called our office recently with something good he wanted to share. He had recently slipped and fallen in his bathtub and could not get out. His leg had collapsed under him, causing the fall. Laying there cold, wet, and concerned about how he was going to get help, he heard a knock on the door. He shouted for the person to come in. It was our Meals on Wheels volunteer to deliever his noon meal. The volunteer called 911 and not only delivered the meal, but also the needed help. Our recipient state that "The man who delivered the meal was a very nice man." He did not get the name of the volunteer, but didn't hesitate to tell us this story! Another one of our Meals on Wheels Rock Stars!

What a good idea! Another good idea is to come see our Caregiver Specialists for the support you need as a Caregiver...it's a job that shouldn't ever be done alone!
A helpful tip for caregivers: Every morning, and especially before you go out with your loved one, snap a picture of them on your phone. A full shot, clothes and all. Then if they wander, or you get separated and you need help finding them, you have their description right there in a picture on your phone. When you're in a panic, trying to remember what your loved one was wearing etc can be hard to do, and it saves valuable time. For support for this journey of dementia, join us at Memory People, on Facebook. We'll walk this with you, each step of the way. You are not alone. https://www.facebook.com/groups/180666768616259/
