Boulevard Heights Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department, Inc. (BHVFD) is a 100% volunteer fire department offering training to those interested in becoming firefighters and emergency medical technicians. We were established in 1923 and are located Capitol Heights, Maryland, minutes away from Washington, DC.
Our station responds to more than 4,500 fire and emergency medical calls each year – 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our volunteer members are trained as emergency medical technicians and firefighters. We currently operate two fire engines and 1 basic ambulance to service a community of approximately 175,000 residents.
As volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians, we perform these life-saving techniques without compensation. Fees from hall rentals and other fundraisers supplement funding received from our taxpayers to purchase needed equipment, supplies, and incentives for our members.
We are actively recruiting firefighters and emergency medical technicians to support our function of providing life saving rescue and medical care to the community.
