In the June 2017 issue of “The Forum" magazine, an Al-Anon member shares: “I didn't know about the ‘isms' of alcoholism. I only knew about the alcohol. When I learned more about the disease, I discovered that certain behaviors often continued, even in sobriety." “Loving the Person, Not the Disease" “The Forum" June 2017 Many people affected by someone else's alcoholism think that once their loved one finds sobriety, everything will be okay. In Al-Anon they can find others who have dealt with this type of situation and find new ways to deal with their newly sober loved one. “By the time I got to #AlAnon, I was an #angry, #resentful, withdrawn #woman. I had shut my #parents and siblings out of my life because I didn't want them to know what was going on. I always hoped the #drinking would stop and no one would need to know what was going on in our home. Of course, I wasn't fooling anyone. Finally, my sister, who had been attending Al-Anon for years, asked me if my husband's drinking bothered me. I said it did. ‘Then Al-Anon is for you,' she said. I went to my first #meeting." “I deserve to be happy," “The Forum" November 2016 Check out this new article from Al-Anon, http://qoo.ly/fz75y. #happy #alateen #recovery

“Three months after I first came [to Al-Anon], I was informed that my daughter was very ill with what could be a life-threatening illness. The bottom fell out from under me. I felt I couldn't breathe, let alone cope with the situation. I turned to Al-Anon meetings, my Sponsor, and the literature to find a way through my pain. I used the slogan ‘One Day at a Time' to get me through. There were many days when I reduced the time to ‘one hour at a time.' I knew that I could manage for an hour. Then I'd pray, breathe, and start the next hour. The program got me through and helped me keep my sanity—one hour at a time. Those hours lengthened into days, weeks, and years." “‘One Day at Time'—by the hour," “The Forum" January 2017 Learn more about the Al-Anon program at goo.gl/BD4TZX. #AlAnon #Alateen #myrecovery #recovery #alcoholism #sponsor #alcoholics #familydisease #support #12Steps #therapy #familyrecovery #addiction #meeting #drug #problems #alcohol #AlcoholicsAnonymous #AA #family #friends
