On 5/13/17 Alma hosted its 11th Annual Resource Fair at Centro Estrella Alma Family Resource & Aquatic Center in East Los Angeles. 40 Community Partners shared information on resources available for individuals and families across the Los Angeles County.

On April 28, Alma staff and parents celebrated the Día del Niño. The festivities included fun activities where preschoolers could practice their large and fine motor skills, healthy snacks and face painting. Alma Preschool's morning class session also joined a field trip to the Los Angeles Zoo. Students created their own Alma shirts, painting Zoo animals, and their own patterns, practicing their creative skills. Close collaboration with families provides a variety of positive, educational and challenging experiences to best meet the needs of families while providing a quality learning environment.

On April 12, Alma's Inclusive State Preschool celebrated its first "Muffins with Mom event" where children recognized their mothers with messages they wrote and read out loud. Then on April 14, Alma hosted its Annual Spring Celebration at Belvedere Park. This event was coordinated by our Preschool parents who collaborated with their peers on the delicious food, fun decorations and the exciting egg hunt. Such events promotes continuous parent involvement into the classroom and the program. On 3/25 Alma participated in the 3rd Anniversary of The Wellness Center at the Historic General Hospital alongside Supervisor Hilda Solis, the Los Angeles Mayor's Office and the Councilmember Jose Huizar's office. At The Wellness Center Alma has partnered with 16 other organizations to inspire and empower community members to take control of their own health and well-being by providing multigenerational, culturally sensitive services. Alma's multidisciplinary team is specially trained to listen, to discuss individual and family problems, and to support individuals of all ages.
