Today was our last water program for this season. Thank you to all of our volunteers who made it possible to touch the lives of so many our kids each Saturday!

Happy Easter!

The AIM winter water program is wrapping up this month. What an exciting season we have had! Over eighteen volunteers help with twenty-five students at the three weekly sessions. We thought you’d like to see a clip of the fun and hard work that goes on during these Saturday morning classes.

Ms. Kay, as her students call her, has been a teacher with AIM since last fall after completing her internship. Born and raised in Texas (she has the boots to prove it!), Kay moved to Dayton and began attending Wright State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in rehabilitation services. She is currently working on her master’s degree. Kay’s passion for teaching shines through when she is working with her students. She brings an energy and excitement to every class she teaches. Her kids respond enthusiastically and their love for Kay and her classes is evident! Some fun facts about Kay are: She is a dog lover, owner and also fosters rescue dogs. She owns five of her own named Molly, McKayla, Lucy, Fox and Odie. Her favorite food is Mexican. Her favorite color is purple. Favorite music is country. In her free time, Kay enjoys playing with her dogs, hiking and sleeping in on the weekends. One thing her co-workers enjoy about Kay is that she likes to bake and share her creations with us. 😊 Judy Kay Petry

Did You Know? That several area nursing homes ask for AIM classes in their facilities? Two of our teachers, Kay and Aimee, teach in nursing homes to the elderly or to patients suffering with dementia or Alzheimer’s. The AIM Method can be modified to adults and the results are beneficial to those who attend the program. Recently, I was able to attend one of these classes with Aimee. I enjoyed watching the class as they worked so hard to do the AIM exercises. Aimee brings an element of fun and encouragement to people who struggle with what would be simple movements for most of us. The AIM exercises are strategic in keeping the patients stronger and more agile and nimble than they would be without their weekly classes.
