First Baptist Sheffield Lake began as a mission of FBC Vermillion in the beginning of 1960. Twenty-three people met in a residence in Sheffield Lake and then began meeting in the West Shore Club and Forestlawn Elementary until the church purchased land and built our current home in December of 1961. This church was formed with on purpose,"To serve as a means through which God can reach the lost and nurture the saved, here and to the uttermost parts of the earth." It is this purpose for which we strive, to see te lost come to faith in Jesus Christ and to be knit together in love as a body of believers. We serve our community with Biblical teaching and as living examples of Christ's love. We share with those who are needy, we care for those who are hurting, and we reach beyond our community to aid in mission work through the Southern Baptist Convention. We believe the Bible is true, the very word of God, and Jesus is the only way to the Father.
