Founded in 1909, the NAACP was created to combat the rampant violence African Americans faced throughout the country. By organizing a multiracial consensus on the injustices of post-slavery treatment of blacks, the NAACP was able to do what abolitionists had done years earlier - bring America closer to fulfilling its creed of “justice for all."
