DreamPower Horsemanship is a PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) International Premier Accredited Center. DreamPower is the only Premier Accredited Center in the south San Francisco Bay/central coast area of California.

Twelve Facts About The DreamPower Foundation

1. Founded in 2002, DreamPower Horsemanship is the first and only Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) International Premier Accredited Center in the south bay area. DreamPower is one of only 22 Premier Accredited Centers in the state of California.

2. “Pete,” one of DreamPower’s therapy horses, was selected as the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International 2014 Therapy Horse of the Year. For this honor Pete will be inducted into the Horse Star Hall of Fame ( ).

3. DreamPower was selected by the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce as the 2015 Non-Profit of the Year.

4. Other national and regional awards won by DreamPower Horsemanship include:
• Martha McNiel was selected as the PATH Intl. Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy and Learning Professional of the Year in 2011.
• Garry Stauber was selected as the 2014 PATH Intl. Region 11 Therapeutic Riding Instructor of the Year.
• Terri Stinson was selected as the PATH Intl. Region 11 Volunteer of the Year in 2014.
• “Tulips” was selected as the PATH Intl. Region 11 Therapy Horse of the Year in 2011.

5. In 2014, DreamPower Horsemanship provided equine-assisted activities and therapies to more than 450 children, teens and adults with special needs.

6. More than 400 volunteers contributed their time and energy to DreamPower in 2014.

7. All horsemanship sessions are conducted by a Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) International Registered Therapeutic Riding Instructor. All psychotherapy sessions are conducted by a California Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or a pre-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Intern or Trainee or a Registered Psychologist.

8. Sixteen kind and patient equine partners work in the DreamPower program. Our equine staff includes twelve riding horses (Abby, Captain Bingo, Chester, Chief, Dudley, Holly, Honey, Jerry, Lexie, Pete, Tango, and Tulips), three miniature horses (Choco, Trigger and Zachary) and one miniature donkey (Patches).

9. The DreamPower Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable corporation. DreamPower’s federal tax ID is 30-0154433. All donations to DreamPower are fully tax-deductible, to the extent allowed by law.

10. DreamPower currently has sixteen different programs including: equine facilitated psychotherapy, therapeutic horsemanship lessons, the Equine Journey Wilderness Program, Ponies & Preschoolers, Horse Power: Living Strong with MS, Horses and Hearts workshops for couples, equine facilitated psychotherapy seminars, Horses for Warriors (for veterans) and the Therapist/Instructor Training Program.

10. It costs DreamPower $110 to provide a one-hour therapeutic horsemanship session. It costs DreamPower $135 to provide a one-hour equine facilitated psychotherapy session.

11. DreamPower’s income comes from the following sources: client fees (40%), donations (30%), grants (15%), in-kind donations (5%), special events (10%).

12. In 2014, DreamPower served clients referred by: Advent Group Ministries, Learning Services, Community Solutions, Chamberlain Children's Services, Rebekah Children's Services, the Santa Clara Co. Office of Education, Operation Freedom Paws, the Palo Alto VA, the Santa Cruz Vet Center, and many other organizations. In 2014, the youngest client served was 3 years old and the oldest was 83 years young.
