Sunday, we talked about thankfulness as we studied Psalm 100. Irma did a lot of damage and most of us were at least inconvienced. Some had flooded homes and some even lost their homes, but it could have been a whole lot worse. Many Christians were praying to God to shift the path of the hurricane and He did! It was not near as bad as predicted. So we talked about being thankful to God even in the bad times. Psalm 100 lists 3 reasons for us to be thankful. 1) Because God is good. "You are good and what You do is good; teach me Your decrees." Psalm 119:68. 2) Because God's love endures forever. "Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever." 1 Chronicles 16:34. God knows eveything about you - you secret sin, your past, your hopes and dreams - and He loves you. His love for you will never cease. 3) Because God's faithfulness continues to all generations. People tell me, "I'm afraid for my children's future" or "We don't want to bring children into this type of world." But God promises that His faithfulness continues to ALL generations. He will always be there for whoever calls upon Him. "Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23. Let's be people of thanksgiving. God has everything under control and even in the bad times, He promises to work it all for the good. We win either way!
