Register today for learning supports conference The deadline is rapidly approaching for a May conference designed to build and promote effective learning support practices. The Iowa Department of Education’s 2017 Learning Supports Conference is scheduled for May 9 and 10. The conference will offer sessions on School-wide and Early Childhood Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Shared Visions, and Challenging Behaviors. Educators from preschool through the 12th grade are encouraged to attend. The event will be held at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines. There is no registration fee for the event, but there is a cash-only parking fee of $8 per car. Deadline to register is May 2. Then the web-based course “Online Effective Programming for Integrated Students on the Autism Spectrum” may be for you! This self-paced course will cover a variety of topics, including characteristics of autism, effective classroom supports, and evidence-based strategies for addressing concerns in the areas of communication, behavior, and social skills. The course will also emphasize professional collaboration as a vital component to serving students on the autism spectrum. Graduate and license renewal credit are available.
The course addresses supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in a less restrictive environment. Begins June 12.
