Owner Bio
My name is Carol Mulready. I am the owner of CBJ Foundations, LLC and I am one of the few women that own a concrete construction company. After over 15 years in business, CBJ offers the best service in poured concrete foundation work, as well as decorative stamped flatwork and outdoor hardscaping. I appreciate the needs of homeowners as well as contractors and understand the effort, concerns, and wishes associated with making your project come to fruition. My experience, along with the experience of my reliable and hardworking crew, allows CBJ to provide top quality service. I understand that every project is unique and by working together with the customer, I ensure the work is completed to satisfaction.
I have been in concrete construction for over 35 years. With the help of my sister, who believed in me, I started my own business 15 years ago which has since tripled in My kids are now 28, 26, and 22 and have all worked with me since a very young age- pouring footings, setting walls, and loading trucks from the early morning hours to the late evening hours. I have, however, always made time for their activities and enjoyed going to high school wrestling matches and soccer and football games. It has been great seeing them grow up and become independent. They have been a large part of my long days and have watched my company grow. The oldest has graduated from college and worked in the commercial mortgage field before joining the CBJ team as Operations Manager. My middle child has worked with me for many years, always by my side. He’s become a great asset to CBJ, learning the ins and outs of the business. The youngest works for CBJ part time while training in mixed martial arts. He is always willing to lend a helping hand.
Through dedication and hard work, CBJ was honored by the Better Business Bureau as a Torch Award runner-up for Best Business Ethics in the Marketplace. Jaime Silva also received the “Superior Employee” award. The Concrete Foundation Association has nominated CBJ as a finalist for “Foundation of the Year 2007”. I have also received my “State of Connecticut Woman Owned Business Certificate” and am the award winner of the 2007 Diversified Business Award (Woman Owned).
We are so proud of our accomplishments, because they are a demonstration of our work ethic and dedication to our craft. We strive to do the right thing and provide the best service possible to our customers. My employees work all summer because it’s our busiest season and we want to be available to get your project done. I’ve also donated time and equipment to assist in the building of new dugouts and a concession stand for our town’s youth baseball program. I love to see children involved in athletics. I enjoy participating in hiking, cross country and down hill skiing, and mountain biking. My motto is “work hard, play hard”.
In continuing my commitment to help in the community, I have given speeches at local schools and Girl Scout meetings about owning and running a construction business. I also volunteer as an MRT on the local ambulance association.
I am a member of the Better Business Bureau, National Women in Construction Association, and NFIB. I am a lifetime member of Who’s Who and have by OSHA certification and my Avoid Foundation Disasters certification.
