Larry Penna, along with his wife Erika started a new business in New Fairfield, Connecticut named Penn Pools. That name matched his Mom’s real estate business also in New Fairfield named Penn Realty.
Larry first started installing above and in-ground pools in 1969 along with renovations and service to pools and spas. In 1980, the business became incorporated. In 1986, he started focusing heavily on service along with major pool and spa renovations. In 1989, Larry became certified at the National Swimming Pool Foundation in Florida and in 1993, became certified at the National Spa & Pool Institute in New Jersey with a “Certified Service Professional” accreditation. In the late 80′s, Larry and his retired Dad Tony worked together in the business. His Dad said, “Son, you fix so many sick pools you should be called a doctor”. Thus, Pool Doctor was birthed. In 1991, The Pool Doctor Store was opened in New Fairfield, Connecticut where they sell chemicals, accessories, equipment, portable spas and more.
Today, the spa business has grown to the point where they had to add “SPA” to their name. Thus, POOL SPA DOCTOR best describes their main business. In addition to any type of pool and spa repair or renovation, POOL SPA DOCTOR constructs homes, garages, sun rooms, additions, stone work, patios and drainage systems.
