Each year, Kids Intervention & Diagnostic Services Center, commonly known as KIDS Center, serves almost 700 children from the tri-county area of Central Oregon with child abuse evaluation and treatment services.
Evaluations include comprehensive medical examinations and child-friendly forensic interviews. Treatment includes therapy provided on-site by Deschutes Mental Health therapists and a KIDS Center therapist, each highly trained to work with trauma and issues of child abuse.
KIDS Center also provides education and consultation to community members and professionals throughout Central and Eastern Oregon on issues related to child abuse and neglect.
Community child abuse prevention efforts include organizing the annual Blue Ribbon Campaign in April and providing Darkness to Light child sexual abuse prevention trainings and awareness campaign.
