In March 2014, one of AceCo’s customers (Brownfield’s Prosthetic & Orthotic Technologies), approached AceCo for help to assist with a unique project. Their patient, former Marine Staff Sergeant Charlie Linville, lost his leg in 2011. He was planning an attempt to summit Mt. Everest, and was looking for a way to incorporate an ice climbing crampon to his prosthetic foot. AceCo’s Mike Hardy assisted Brownfield’s engineers to design and manufacture the custom climbing prosthetic. Charlie’s first two attempts to summit Everest were denied due to an avalanche and earthquake in 2014 and 2015 respectively. He finally reached the summit this week, and is now the first combat amputee to do so! We are proud to say that Mike Hardy’s help with Charlie’s custom prosthetic was a part of helping him reaching the summit!!!!!!
