In the light of HUD's new "Worst Case Housing Needs" report, there's an increased discussion over the lack of affordable rental homes. "8.3 million very low-income households paid more than half their monthly income on rent or lived in severely substandard housing in 2015."
Urban Institute on the rental #housing crisis: "Only one in four people eligible for housing assistance are getting help. Nowhere in the United States can anyone making the minimum wage afford a standard two-bedroom apartment. This new HUD report found that the proportion of people paying over 50 percent of monthly income on rent has risen by 66 percent since 2001 and 41 percent since 2008."
