Since 1982, the nonprofit PEP has provided parenting classes for parents and caregivers with children of all ages. PEP classes are offered throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In fiscal year 2013, over 5000 people participated in PEP classes.
Classes focus on general parenting techniques, as well as on specific issues such as managing anger, handling sibling rivalry, parenting extra challenging children, communicating with teens, and many others. Classes are taught by Certified Parent Educators who receive extensive training in positive parenting theory, strategies, and techniques. PEP instructors are also available to present to local businesses, schools, and other parenting groups.
PEP's classes are funded partially through class registration fees and also through the generous donations of members, class participants, and community business sponsorships.
