B-Side shared Squarewave's post.
Squarewave: A truly astonishing Wisconsin psych rock band earn another good review, check out the link... One of our 2016 poll winners -- catch them at High Noon Saloon 8/11
We will be playing High Noon Saloon Friday 8/11.... hope to see you there
Moody, mysterious, and ethereal, at once angry, driving and then passionately mournful, Squarewave’s A Tighter Knot belies easy comparisons to music that has come before. Moving seamlessly between folk-rock, psychedelic neo-grunge, prog-rock and buoyant... #altpsych #alternative #madisonwi

B-Side with Renaissance.
42 years ago, Renaissance released “Scheherazade and Other Stories.” The British progressive rock group’s fourth LP with (28 year old) lead singer Annie Haslam is a fan favorite, charting to #48 Billboard and one of their best-reviewed titles. The side two (title) suite boasts support from the London Symphony Orchestra. Cover art by Hipgnosis. Fun fact: The lead-off song “Trip to the Fair’ is about Haslam’s first date with Roy Wood (co-founder of The Move, ELO & Wizzard) --to whom she was engaged for 4 years, but never married. B-Side with Beastie Boys.
Released 28 years ago today: "Paul's Boutique" by Beastie Boys (our copies here). This second album was initially considered a commercial failure by their record company since it didn't quickly outsell the Beastie’s debut, so promotion stopped. Then, it continued to sell, reaching #14 Billboard and now regarded a hip hop landmark. Ranked 3rd best album of the '80s by Pitchfork, 12th on Spin's list "100 Greatest Albums 1985-2005" and 156th Greatest Album of All Time by Rolling Stone. Fun fact: Miles Davis said he never got tired of listening to it. Read the review, listen + watch in Comments. B-Side with Leslie West Mountain.
48 years ago, 23 year old guitarist, singer Leslie West released his debut LP “Mountain.” It featured a formative lineup of the band soon to be known as *Mountain* -with bassist, keyboardist, producer Felix Pappalardi plus drummer N.D. Smart II. Corky Laing would soon replace Smart, and 7 months later the official debut Mountain LP “Climbing!” would appear and chart to #17. Anyway, this pre-fame album remains relatively obscure yet well-regarded. Listen in Comments.
