Elmer Schultz (the founding president of Wayside Gardens) and his son John A Schultz (Jack) established Springbrook Gardens Inc. in 1946 consisting of 30 acres in Willoughby, Ohio and 22 acres in Mentor, Ohio.
In 1958, Jack decided to change the focus of Springbrook’s production from shrubs and evergreens to perennials. He eventually sold the Willoughby acreage and devoted all his efforts to acquiring rare and not easily produced perennials to sell to the broader wholesale mail order market.
Presently Springbrook Gardens has over 60 acres and over 500 varieties of perennials in Mentor, Ohio. Jack’s long time employees Glenn Anderson (Field Operations Manager) is currently managing the business.
Springbrook Gardens is proud of its legacy, continually striving for the best quality and diversity of plant material.
