MI was established by Keith Randal Duncan with Martha Duncan in 2000 to train and mentor young people in the moving image (film, video, animation/video game) arts in a qualitative and encouraging manner, thus filling an educational and creative need.
In 2000 the Movie Institute created one the nation's first moviemaking summer camps "KAMP HOLLYWOOD" that continues to this day serving young people from all over the and the world. MI has also conducts various workshops weekend workshops for people of all ages that desiring to learn and experience Motion Media production and performance.
In June of 2009 The Movie Institute, Inc. was awarded a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization status by the IRS.
