Metric Motors

Metric Motors Inc. opened on Ludingtonville Road on April 1, 1980. After many years of working for area dealerships and working out of a barn in my parents backyard, I built a 2,000 square foot shop which included a spray booth for bodywork. We started by working mostly on Alfa Romeo’s, due to my love of Italian cars. Business grew steadily through the many word-of-mouth referrals and before I knew it I was working on all makes and models. We became known to our neighbors as “the repair shop you could trust.” I then had my brother as my right hand man and two full time technicians working with me. My wife joined the shop in 1989 as the business began to expand and together we worked to grow Metric Motors.

Through marketing and quality service we out grew the shop and parking lot in 1995 we opened our new 10,000 sq foot auto center. The new shop environment reflects and enhances our high standard of quality work which we are all about. My wife worked on bringing a more woman friendly feel to the waiting room. We did not want women to feel intimidated as they were at dealerships. We are commonly referred to by our customers as the dealer alternative and we pride ourselves in that. The Metric Motors crew has grown to 13 full time and 3 part time employees. Currently, there are 3 of us here that are related in some way, and some that have been with us for over 20 years. So, you see, this isn’t just a business to us, it’s personal. We’ve always considered the Metric Motors team part of our family and that is exactly what we will consider you, should you choose to allow us the privilege of serving you and to service your vehicle.
