Be’er Hagolah, founded in 1979, is a community based organization in Starrett City, Brooklyn, targeting the disadvantaged, low income community. Among a typical pool of 1,000 community youngsters, 25% grow up in single parent homes and 98% are from families who are Food Stamp and Medicaid recipients.
The children with whom we interact live in East New York section of Brooklyn. Be’er Hagolah targets particularly the very-low income immigrants, providing a myriad array of human services to assist the disadvantaged immigrant children and their families to develop into happy, healthy, productive Americans. Be’er Hagolah responds to the needs of this community by providing programs emphasizing positive youth development, risk prevention and community service.
