Blackburn Mfg. Co. is one of Nebraska's most progressive employers, with locations in Nebraska and California. Blackburn Mfg. Co. was founded in 1953 by "Bud" Blackburn. We are the top manufacturer of marking flags and also resell many other marking products to better service our customers. From our inception date to the present this company remains a family affair. Following Bud's retirement in 1980, his youngest son Jim took over as President/CEO. Jim's daughter, Jennifer Blackburn-Nielsen became President in 2005, and his daughter Krista Schindler, became Director of Marketing in 2013. Jim remains at Blackburn's as CEO. In Paso Robles, California, Bud's oldest son, Bob, served as Executive Vice President. Bob's son, Robert Blackburn II, fills the Vice President position for the west coast location and Bob's daughter Paige works in Customer Service. We pride ourselves on the family rich heritage that instills the work ethic of all of our employees. We like to treat all of our employees as part of the family.
As the company has grown it has also received many awards and recognition both locally and nationally. In 1992, Jim was recognized as Nebraska's Small Business Person of the Year by the US Small Business Administration. Mr. Blackburn and the company have also been featured in top business magazines from Entrepreneur Magazine and Kiplinger as well as Rural Electric Nebraska. In 2003 the father daughter duo were recognized with the Nebraska Distinguished Entrepreneur Award. Most recently, Blackburn Mfg. Company is proud to announce that we were selected as“THE WORLD’S GREATEST” flag manufacturer in 2013! We were chosen out of all of our competition worldwide and featured on the popular series on ION television around the globe, showing why we ARE “The World’s Greatest”!
