The Lexington Foundation Inc

Founded in 2004, the LCF is a non-profit organization whose philanthropic mission is to raise funds and awareness in the fight against cancer. It is also dedicated to improving the quality of healthcare for cancer patients. The vision of the LCF is to become a leading resource of funding and information to dramatically reduce the incidence and suffering caused by cancer. The LCF board is comprised of fifty passionate women who are committed to the mission and making the vision a reality.

The LCF hosts three annual events - Hats and Handbags for Life, the Kentucky Bluegrass Wine Auction, and the Lexington Derby Ball. The Kentucky Bluegrass Wine Auction has been highly successful, raising over million dollars in three years. Funds raised as a result of these events, in addition to personal donations, are dispersed to the community through grant awards. Since its inception, the LCF has pledged and awarded over 3 million dollars to numerous cancer causes.

Annually, the LCF hosts a cancer medical symposium for physician education. Over the past three years, these high-quality continuing education seminars have covered topics such as breast cancer, colon cancer, prostate cancer, and lung cancer. Speakers for these seminars have included top experts from MD Anderson, Memorial Sloan-Kettering, Duke University and more. In addition, the LCF will hosts a series of free public forums on specific cancer topics throughout the year.
