I began my accounting career in August of 1998 while I was attending DeVry University, where I was studying to obtain my bachelor's degree in accounting. I have been employed as an accountant ever since. I graduated from DeVry, with honors, in February of 1999. I went on to pass all four parts of the CPA exam in November of 2000, on my first attempt. For the first seven years of my career, I worked for small CPA firms, dealing with both individual and small business clients. In June of 2005, looking for a change, I became the CFO of a small local construction company. Part of my reason for taking this job was that I knew it would allow me the opportunity and the time to start my own CPA firm. When the local construction company had to close its doors in December of 2007, I found another small local construction company to work for part time, where I performed many of the same duties there that I had done at the previous company, all the while continuing to grow my firm. I maintained this job over the next couple of years. Now, I am no longer employed by any local construction company, and am able to devote all of my time and energy to my own business.
