The Ellen Trout Zoo is owned and operated by the City of Lufkin which is responsible for the daily operation. The Zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA).
Friends of Ellen Trout Zoo ( ) is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization that assists the Zoo in a supportive capacity. will focus on funding for major expansion and renovation projects in the Zoo's master plan.
