The Humanitas Forum on Christianity & Culture Pornography: The Modern Plague Dr. William Bellet Thursday, September 14, 2017 (7 p.m.) Bell Hall/Nursing Building, Room 260 on the Tennessee Tech campus It’s just porn, right – at least I can enjoy myself, and it’s not hurting anyone. Or is it? Pulling back the curtain on one of the most widespread but least-discussed epidemics of our modern era, Dr. Bellet uses personal case studies and recent scientific and psychological research to illustrate how pornography use leads to cycles of addiction, isolation, and broken relationships. Implications for personal mental health, relationship functioning, and public health are discussed as well. Drawing on 12-step models, clinical experience, and time-tested spiritual concepts, Dr. Bellet further explains how we can break cycles of addiction, restoring sex from a lonely biological imperative to its proper place as an impetus for selfless love and new life. Dr. William Bellet is a father of nine children and a clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience in relationship and marriage counseling. Bill is a past Vice President and General Manager for HCA in Operations and Business Development for Europe and Southeast Asia. His clinical work focuses on marriage and family counseling.
