Dr. Zavell has practiced in Toledo, Ohio since 1993. Born in Detroit, Michigan, Dr. Zavell attended college and medical school at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. After graduation, he completed his residency in general surgery at the Medical College of Ohio where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and was twice voted the Outstanding Resident Teacher. He performed his residency in plastic surgery at Providence Hospital and the affiliated Institute for Craniofacial and Reconstructive Surgery.
Dr. Zavell is board certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, as well as a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. In his third term, he continues to be Chairman of Plastic Surgery at Flower Hospital and is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Toledo Medical Center. Dr. Zavell also volunteers as a participant in medical missions to South America, operating on adults and children with facial and traumatic deformities.
