Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque published a note.
Immeasurably More...in 2016 Reflections from Care Net Executive Director Mary LeQuieu
I am amazed at the things God has done in 2016 through the Care Net Pregnancy Centers of the Albuquerque area. Here are some of the highlights:
Many of you invited us into your churches and your hearts during the Sanctity of Human Life celebrations or other speaking engagements. Thank you!
Over the months we joined other pro-life organizations in praying together for New Mexico and our nation.
Focus on the Family sent trainers to Albuquerque to improve our ultrasound expertise. We are grateful for Focus!
We began meeting with Pregnancy Centers in New Mexico to discuss how a Stork Bus might be used in our state. Many people and organizations, including Lovelace Health Systems, contributed to raise the funds. Many of you at the 2016 Fundraising Banquet saw a similar unit and were blessed by the insights of Paul Isaacs, the CEO of Save the Storks. In late summer we ordered the new Medical Mobile bus. We are delighted that the bus arrived a few days ago. If you spot a bright green, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van driving by that says “Know Now,” that’s the Stork Bus.
Early in 2016, Sagebrush Church gave us the large RV which they had loaned us for three eventful years. With that RV we are able to offer free services on college campuses in Albuquerque and community locations. After an arson fire in late November caused major damage to the Women’s Pregnancy Options (a pro-life center located across the street from an abortion clinic), our 38 foot RV allowed them to continue saving lives while their center is rebuilt.
The introduction of a new Pastor/Liaison Workshop has been helping our church community understand the wide sphere of influence Care Net has in ministering the gospel and in touching hearts for life. One of our objectives has been to improve the connection between our clients and local churches. This year we have a great start by revitalizing a mentoring program called “Stand by Me.”
Several of you made it possible to remodel areas of the Valencia County and the North East Heights offices. Just beautiful! Come in and take a look.
A surprise turned into a blessing with the arrival of three former Intel employees assigned to us through the Encore program. They are now involved in various program building projects.
The Creating Positive Relationships (CPR) program provided abstinence training and life skills to very diverse groups. Everything from schools to the Boy Scouts and more. God seriously opened some unexpected doors.
Thank you to all of you who participated in the annual Walk for Life this August. Walk for Life is a family event that we would like to see grow.
A new adventure this year was the Laugh for Life with comedian Paul Aldridge. We enjoyed Paul’s quirky songs as we raised funds for the Know Now Mobile Medical Units.
In the fall of this year, Care Net, Project Defending Life and the HUB radio brought the movie “Voiceless” to Albuquerque and Los Lunas. Our desire was to motivate believers to learn how to reach out in a healthy way to those struggling with life issues. To that end, Care Net National has created a 6 part study for churches and small groups entitled “Making Life Disciples.” This interactive video/study guide is beautifully done and will increase ministry skills.
If this all sounds like a whirlwind, it was. But nothing we do in our centers begins to compare to the personal tornadoes of the young men and women we see every day. They are literally caught up in a turmoil of pressures and circumstances that threaten their future and the life of their unborn child. It is on their behalf that I thank you for your faithful and generous partnership with Care Net. Your support literally saves lives. Thank you!
