LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR NUNGESSER AND OFFICE OF TOURISM PARTNER WITH GARDEN & GUN MAGAZINE FOR CAST & BLAST EVENT 🚣🏻🎣🛶🦆 Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, and the Louisiana Office of Tourism are partnering with Garden & Gun Magazine, LLC, for a special sporting excursion at Grosse Savanne Waterfowl and Wildlife Refuge in Cameron Parish. Louisiana Cast & Blast is an event offering people the chance to experience the best of the sporting life with an all-day fishing excursion off the Louisiana coast followed by a morning hunt on the opening day of teal season. “Throughout the years, our partnership with Garden & Gun Magazine has been very successful for everyone involved,” said Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser. “We have partnered on several events, most recently the Louisiana in the Lowcountry Culinary Trails event in Charleston, South Carolina, last year. This Louisiana Cast & Blast event marks the fastest event to sell out, not just during our partnership, but in the history of Garden & Gun Magazine, showing the popularity of fishing and hunting in Louisiana.” On Thursday, September 14, participants will experience Louisiana’s offshore fishing with two separate excursions, one in the morning and another in the afternoon. That evening, Chef John Folse will provide the group with a culinary experience you can find only in Louisiana. The following day, Friday, September 15, the group will celebrate the opening of teal season in Louisiana with a morning hunt. For the 2017-2018 hunting season, teal season runs the last 16 days of September from September 15-30. “Louisiana’s estuaries, fed by the nutrient-rich Mississippi and Atchafalaya Rivers, make up the seventh largest estuary in the world. With a shoreline stretching 7,721 miles long, the best catch comes from our coast,” said Assistant Secretary Kyle Edmiston. “Likewise, Louisiana offers some of the best hunting in the country from waterfowl – like the blue-winged and green-winged teal to deer and other game. This is a great opportunity for people to experience just why Louisiana is known as the Sportsman’s Paradise.” Past partnerships have included a Fais Do Do event with Chef John Besh in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2013; Cotton & Smoke with Chef Cory Bahr in Dallas, Texas, in 2014; and, the Louisiana in the Lowcountry with 8 chefs from around the state in Charleston, South Carolina, in 2016. Garden & Gun Magazine, LLC, is a lifestyle brand anchored by its award-winning national magazine, Garden & Gun which covers the best of the South, including the sporting culture, the food, the music, the art, the literature, the people and their ideas. With a national audience of more than one million passionate and engaged readers, the magazine has won numerous awards for its journalism, design, and overall excellence. Launched in the spring 2007, the company and editorial team are headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, with advertising sales offices across the United States.
