Amanda Animal Hospital

Amanda Animal Hospital was established by Dr. Gerald Lewis in the 1960s. It has been at 8696 Spencerville Road in between Lima and Spencerville ever since. Although originally established as a mixed animal practice, it is now solely a small animal veterinary hospital.

In 1997, Dr. Chad Higgins purchased Amanda Animal Hospital from Dr. Lewis. Since then it has grown into a full service animal hospital serving pets and pet owners from all over the Lima, Ohio area. Clients even travel from as far as Toledo, Columbus, Fort Wayne, and Chicago for the care offered for their pets at Amanda Animal Hospital. Dr. Higgins sees dogs, cats, ferrets, and any other “furry, little critters.”

Services offerred by Amanda Animal Hospital include the following: preventive health care, geriatric pet care, in-house laboratory testing, surgery, dentistry, in hospital care of injured/sick pets, radiology services, boarding, and bathing. Dr. Higgins and his staff take the time necessary to try to make the pets feel comfortable and at ease when they visit. They also want the pet owners to feel comfortable with everything that occurs during a visit, including any tests or treatments recommended for their pet. Their goal is to educate pet owners, give them their recommendation and options for pet care and treatment, and then letting the pet owners decide how they want to procede.
