Herons Glen Inc

Herons Glen is a gated championship golf and country club community with 1,300-homes in North Fort Myers on the northern edge of Lee County Florida where residents control the recreational facilities. The Glen offers many amenities including a 45,000 sq. ft clubhouse featuring a ballroom with dance floor and stage, dining room and lounge.

The Golf Club at Herons Glen is highlighted by an 18-hole championship course designed by Ron Garl in 1991 and redesigned in 2006 by Gordon Lewis that plays to golfers of all levels. Five sets of tees feature total yardages from 4,733 to 6,468 yards. The practice range includes 27 Turf-Hound hitting stations along with Bermuda grass stations, an 8,100 square foot putting green and chipping area for golfers to warm up before tee time. Also available are six tennis courts, a 3,000 sq. ft. fitness center, lake front heated swimming pool with spa, 4 bocce courts, 3 temporary Pickleball courts, card rooms, craft rooms, 12 shuffleboard courts, picnic area, libraries and a billiards room.

The Recreation District was formed in 1999 when the residents voted overwhelmingly to purchase the recreational facilities from then developer Coolidge Ft Myers Realty. A provision of Florida law allowed us to finance this purchase through a tax-exempt bond issue, creating an instrument of State government known as the Recreational District. An elected Board of Supervisors governs the affairs of the Recreational District.

The Home Owners Association was first instituted as part of the legal structure of the original developer of the entity known as Del Vera. It was passed on to Coolidge and then inherited by the residents when takeover occurred on January 1, 2005. The HOA is a Florida not-for-profit corporation. An elected Board of Directors governs the affairs of the HOA.
