First Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA). We are a community of faith of about 160 members.
With a rich history of faith and service for more than 180 years, First Church has pioneered many urban outreach programs, including the former Learning Center pre-school. First Church was instrumental in forming the current Downtown Churches Association, the Hospitality HUB, and provided the first home of the Metropolitan Inter-Faith Association (MIFA). Our Soup Kitchen ministry provides a hot meal to more than 150 guests each Sunday afternoon at 2:30 pm, as well as assistance with birth certificates, State ID's, clothing, food stamps, and other forms of assistance to the homeless and under-served in our community throughout the month.
Sunday School for adults and children is at 9:30 am on Sunday mornings, and worship is at 11:00 am. Our pastor is The Reverend C. V. "Bo" Scarborough.
Today, members of First Church come from all over metropolitan Memphis. We extend to you a warm invitation to visit and become part of our church. With joy and thanksgiving, First Presbyterian Church is alive and well in downtown Memphis!
