First Lutheran Church (originally named The Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church) was built on its current site on 8th St. in 1869. A new church was built in 1953 to accommodate the growing community which includes the building you see today plus an addition that was added in 1987 to make the building handicapped accessible as well as add more parking. Throughout its history First Lutheran has been an important part of the Manitowoc community as we strive to love Jesus and serve his people.
