The Office of the Superintendent of Schools in the Archdiocese of Newark is entrusted with the responsibility of providing leadership, unity, and service to all elementary and secondary schools of the Archdiocese.
The Catholic Bishops emphasize this responsibility in their document, “To Teach As Jesus Did”: Catholic education is an expression of the mission entrusted by Jesus to the Church He founded. Through education, the Church seeks to prepare its members to proclaim the Good News and to translate this proclamation into action. Of the educational programs available to the Catholic community, Catholic schools afford the fullest and best opportunity to realize the threefold purpose of Christian education–message, community, and service–among children and young people.
The Office of the Superintendent of Schools is committed to the promotion, preservation and growth of all Catholic Schools in the Archdiocese. It strives for the development of programs of educational excellence which convey the message of Christ and prepare students for life.
