Coastal Point comment policy

Coastal Point employs a strict comment policy across all our platforms, including letters-to-the-editor: no profanity or suggestions of violence; no personal attacks or insults ( , calling people stupid) nor derogatory comments based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnic background, nationality or immigration status, age, disability, health conditions, etc.; no off-topic comments (injecting politics), false information, harmful supposition (including potentially libelous accusations) or trolling; and no commenting about or encouraging others to act in a manner that could be dangerous, illegal or against government restrictions. Attacks on Coastal Point, its staff or the media will not be tolerated. If you have a concern about how we do our job, please message, email or call us.

We reserve the right to remove comments or not publish letters that violate our commenting policy, and repeat or egregious violations of the policy will result in a ban from commenting. We want the Coastal Point to be a place to exchange ideas, not engage in political feuding, trolling and insults. We do not want our comments sections to become a free-for-all but to engage our community in useful discussion.
