Due to the substantial increase of fine home building in the Fox River area and through the United States, StairGoddess, LLC was formed in response to fulfill an overwhelming need for quality stair products for new construction and existing remodels. Builders, architects, designers and homeowners were seeking out new and complimentary products, which would not only accentuate the project’s interior, but fit the overall construction budget as well.
Numerous building professionals expressed their dissatisfaction with current suppliers to Rebecca Herring, a stair specialist with over 7 years of experience at that time. Herring and her husband Daniel, researched further into building trends, construction standards, residential and commercial building codes and on May 16th, 2002, StairGoddess, LLC was born.
Rebecca focuses on curved, spiral, straight stair and stair part applications. Daniel has created the web site, project manages and serves as the company’s accountant. Both Daniel and Rebecca saw the organizations true potential and realized to maximize the company’s exposure they would need more sales professionals.
In August of 2002, StairGoddess, LLC flew in 4 seasoned independent sales representatives from Pennsylvania, New York, Maine and Tennessee to collaborate and formulate an extensive strategic sales and marketing plan to cover each respective territory. It was determined at this time that these independent representatives would work on a commission basis to generate leads and prospect out new and potential territories for sales opportunities.
In December of 2002 a fifth independent sales representative joined the StairGoddess team to cover the Midwest. Armed with more than 50 years combined stair experience, these sales reps and the Herrings wanted to venture into uncharted territories with knowledge and trustworthiness as their guides. However, one key element was missing from their team of professionals.
One key obstacle that many builders and home earners yearned for was a skilled craftsman who not only could field measures the stairways, but install them as well. The team at StairGoddess realized early on that an expert installer was a necessity. Rebecca Herring immediately contacted Jason Schipper, a skilled stairway builder and installer of over 10 years. Jason was indeed a true craftsman, and Herring had collaborated with him on previous projects. Schippert met the StairGoddess team, reiterated his passion for fine woodworking and StairGods, Inc was formed.
New samples were coming in on a monthly basis, which begged to be showcased. Builders were asking to bring their customers in for meetings and to see samples. Phone calls were coming in as early as 6:00 to accommodate lumber yards sales from the East Coast.
StairGoddess, LLC quickly decided it was time to take the business to the next level; they needed to move out of their modest office to a showroom solely dedicated to the products they sold.
In May of 2004 the Herrings began talks with Pfefferle Management to renovate and occupy space in the City Center Plaza. The negotiating process took ample time and renovating the space would be a somewhat lengthy process. In June of 2003, the Herrings officially signed a 5-year lease with Pfefferle Management to occupy over 1000 square feet of commercial showroom space. Immediately renovations started and the showroom space began to take shape. While Daniel worked on the renovations, Rebecca manned the office.
In a collaborative effort with Studio Kitchens and Techline Furniture the new StairGoddess office and showroom (pictured above) had its official grand opening on October 19th, 2004. The public response was overwhelming. Builders, architects, homeowners, friends and family welcomed the new facility which boasts over 70 different handrail and baluster profiles, one set of full curved stairs, two spiral stairs, one straight stair and numerous photos of completed jobs across the country. “Taking Perfection to a Whole New Level,” was then and still remains the company’s tag line and business could not have been better.
The name StairGoddess, LLC is synonymous with quality and service. So much so that our products have been featured in the Parade of Homes in the Fox Valley, Winnebago, and Milwaukee counties. Not to mention our spectacular stairs installed in the Greenwich Mansion in Connecticut, the stunning homes in Martha’s Vineyard, and the covenanted gated communities in Illinois and New York.
Thank you for visiting and we look forward to meeting and talking with you soon.
Sincerely,
Dan and Becky Herring
