QC Laboratory Technician Needed Reports to QA Manager Job Description: The applicant must be capable of achieving relevant VDOT Materials Certifications within a 90-day period. The position requires the technician to maintain a good working relationships with other departments at Basic and with State representatives at VDOT; Inspect the yard daily to check for cross contamination or any other issues as well as weekly aggregate sampling and testing; Complete all daily asphalt testing and periodic back up field density testing; Complete all reporting and notifications to QA Manager; Maintain lab cleanliness and supply shortages as well maintenance around the outside of the lab area and sample rack; and adhere to all company policies. The above description covers the principal duties and responsibilities of the job. The description shall not, however, be construed as a complete listing of all miscellaneous, incidental or similar duties which may be required from day to day as instructed your supervisor. Requirements: Workers should be able to: Practice good safety habits; Work in dusty or dirty surroundings; Follow instructions and meet set standards; Make decisions based on verifiable standards. Physically, workers must be able to: Stoop, bend, and crouch; Use hands, arms, and legs fully; See well (either naturally or with correction); and lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds. The applicant must be able to pass a drug screen. High School diploma required; Associate’s Degree or higher preferred. The ability to complete basic algebra by hand with calculator is required. Additional Information: Aggregate and asphalt testing duties are to be completed in a standard 40-hour work week Monday through Friday with overtime allowed for additional testing, to meet VDOT requirements, or at the discretion of the QA Manager. However, the applicant should be capable of working nights and weekends whenever necessary.
