Shepherd of The Woods Lutheran Church

Shepherd of the Woods School (SOTWS) strives for academic excellence by providing an environment that inspires a love of learning. SOTWS educates the whole child by providing a challenging academic curriculum with rigorous standards that will form the basis of the child’s lifelong learning process. We also nurture the spiritual side of each child by helping them to understand and to see God’s care in all of His people and His creation. We understand and appreciate that learning is a partnership among parents, teachers and our church community. We make a personal commitment to each child to provide him or her the best possible education from an academic and spiritual standpoint.

The center of our school community is Jesus Christ. We shape our lives and ministries on the principles found in the Word of God. We are a community of children, parents, teachers and staff learning and serving together in Christian love.

Our actions and attitudes are guided by Christian beliefs and values found in the Bible and embodied by Jesus Christ. We welcome all without distinction or discrimination, recognizing individuality. We acknowledge the Word of God as the authority and guide for our school community. We instruct the children in the faith through our Lutheran perspectives; our teachers and staff exemplify our Christian values.

Shepherd of the Woods Lutheran School strives to fulfill Christ’s command that we “make disciples of all nations”. We commit to reaching out to all of God’s people regardless of language or cultural barriers. We instruct the children in ways to share God’s love and make global outreach a part of our governing values.

In these ways, we teach the children entrusted to us to be Christian leaders and to strive for justice and peace in all the earth.
