Tri State Bible College

To put it simply, Tri-State Bible College is the area’s “best kept secret.” Founded in 1970 by the late Walter E. Staten, the college is nestled in the foothills of Southern Ohio. The mission of the school is to train the men and women of the Appalachia area in the truths of God’s word and to equip them for daily living. At TSBC, the lives of students are challenged as they are provided with the training and tools that will enrich their individual ministries in the local churches.

The challenge is to provide professional, college-level training for Christian workers within local churches. Early in our history, representatives of supporting churches became Board members of TSBC. This gave the school a direct relationship with the local churches which is a relationship that continues to this very day.

The Tri-State Bible College opened its doors for the first time to students desirous to study the Scriptures on August 28, 1970. The initial enrollment of fifty-five students exceeded expectations. A small 26 foot square building was given to a supporting church in South Point, Ohio. This building was remodeled to contain two offices, two rest rooms, a bookstore, and a single classroom. It was used by the college until the spring of 1974.

During the summer of 1974, it became necessary for the college to purchase its own facilities. The school moved to its current location during the Christmas holidays of the same year. A large house provided room enough for three classrooms, a library, offices, a bookstore, and came with its very own kitchen! In 1975, a large 36’ x 80’ classroom building was erected. This structure now houses our 15,000 volume library which will eventually contain 20,000 books. This is a much needed facility when you consider that over 1600 students have already passed through the doors of Tri-State Bible College. We expect that many more students will do the same as Christians recognize the need for a quality based Bible education.

The goal is to raise the awareness of Tri-State Bible College’s presence, scope, and depth of ministry in the local region. How we do this is by sharing our ministry with people just like you who desire to know the Lord in a deeper more meaningful way.
