It all began in 1708 at Schwarzenau, Germany when eight souls were baptized by trine immersion in the Eder River. Alexander Mack was led into the river by one of the eight and was baptized; he then baptized the other seven. With Alexander Mack as the leader, a new congregation, the German Baptist Church was organized.
