August 1913 was the first Fair and was known as the Hermiston Dairy and Hog Show. The first fair was a joint fair with Morrow County and in 1913 legislation change that made it no longer possible to have a bi-county fair. The Umatilla County Fairgrounds have been a family tradition in Umatilla County since then.
