Global Marketing Systems

Sharma is the Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer of Global Marketing Systems (GMS). Originally hailing from Bhavnagar (site of world's largest number of ship recycling yards in Alang) India, he earned his Master's (MBA) and Doctorate (DBA) degrees in Business Administration in USA. Subsequently, Dr. Sharma worked in academia for 10 years, moving rapidly from a visiting lecturer to Chairman of the Business Department at Frostburg State University in Maryland (USA) - a sister to the University of Maryland.

In 1992, GMS was formed, primarily to buy old US and Russian Naval vessels for recycling. Within four years of its inception, GMS's global activities expanded rapidly enough to where Dr. Sharma moved from academia to devote his full attention to GMS. This would prove to be a major turnaround, both for Dr. Sharma and the ship recycling industry.

Historically, being an industry that was muddled with unscrupulous Buyers and enormous risk (for Sellers), Dr. Sharma ensured GMS brought about a fresh change to the industry via its professional dealings, competitive prices and strong performance. Since then, Ship owners and recyclers continue to be impressed with the truly transparent and professional dealings with "Global Marketing System".

This has helped GMS become the world's largest Cash Buyer of ships for recycling negotiating more than 130 ships every year with more than 450 ships concluded since 2009 - 2010. With expanding offices, increased support from Ship Owners, Brokers and Recyclers, GMS has maintained leadership in the world's ship recycling market.
