Don Panoz founded Élan Motorsports Technologies in 1997 with the goal of becoming one of North America’s leading motorsports design, development and manufacturing companies.
Today Élan Motorsports’ expertise includes racing design, engineering, advanced composites manufacturing, metal fabrication, and engine design and development services through Its Precision Products, Composites, and Power Products Divisions.
PRECISION PRODUCTS
The Precision Products Division provides high-quality machine and fabrication services like sheet metal and tube fabrication using aluminum, structural titanium, stainless and chromoly steels with very high tolerances. It can create racing suspension components such as front and rear wishbones, uprights, pushrods, toe links, roll hoops, aluminum radiators, oil coolers, oil tanks, catch tanks, header tanks, and oil and water pipes and has supported various race teams and racing series ranging from Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) to IndyCar.
COMPOSITES
The Composites Division specializes in translating the most challenging designs into structurally rigid parts. Whether designing a new car, a new part, creating carbon tooling, Élan Motorsports draws on its experience with modern, ultra-lightweight materials such as carbon fiber, prepreg glass, aramids, Kevlar®, aluminum and Nomex® core, and woven polypropylene.
Facilities and equipment include an environmentally controlled clean room, two large-capacity autoclaves and additional ovens, temperature-controlled raw material storage, computerized precision cutting machines, and a heated platen press for high speed compression molding.
POWER PRODUCTS
The Élan Power Products Division provides comprehensive race engine manufacturing, development and management programs. Instead of simply making more horsepower, the Élan engine experts analyze the interaction between the engine and chassis to optimize the package and make the car faster. Power Products also offers fuel management and rebuild services, and electronic and non-electronic engine management systems. It can re¬build an engine or design one from the ground up through its machining, flow test, quality control and dynamometer facilities.
ÉLAN RACE CARS
Élan Motorsports has created high-performance machines for various forms of racing, including IndyCar, Champ Car, and international endurance racing. Élan built the Panoz G-Force chassis was used in the Indy Racing League from 1997 to 2006, and G-Force cars won famed Indianapolis 500 race in 1997, 2000, 2003 and 2004.

Today Élan Motorsports builds the Élan DP02 race car that competes in IMSA’s Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda series and the SCCA’s C Sports Racer (CSR) class. It also builds the Élan Van Diemen DP08 race car used in the IndyCar-sanctioned Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda series and the SCCA’s Formula Continental series.
Its newest is the Élan NP01 closed-cockpit race car designed for the upcoming National Auto Sport Association (NASA) Prototype Series. It is available in 2015 as a complete turn-key kit (minus safety belts and fluids) for $65,000, but Élan can assemble the NP01 for an additional fee.
Élan Technologies is the first ever race car constructor to earn ISO 9001 certification for Quality with the design, development and manufacture of race cars, engines and composite components.
